VISITING
Arrive early to your departure point (either Battery Park in New York or Liberty State Park in New Jersey) in order to have sufficient time to pass through security—the boat will leave on schedule whether or not your group has boarded. All visitors go through airport style security to get on the ferry.

One adult chaperone is required for every 10 students. Chaperones must remain with students at all times.

Groups with pedestal/museum access tickets on Liberty Island must plan time to go through the secondary security that is required to enter the monument. Large packages, large backpacks, suitcases, and all food are not permitted in the pedestal or museum. Lockers are available (for a fee) on Liberty Island

Eating and drinking is only permitted in certain areas. There is no indoor student eating area on either island.

Students may each bring a bagged lunch or can purchase food on-site to eat outside.

Educators are responsible for checking ferry schedules to ensure that groups have sufficient time to arrive for ranger led programs on time (if reserved), visit both islands (if planned), and return to the mainland within their scheduled timeframe.

For questions about access for students with special needs, contact the park at (212)363-3200x134
